Ippocalyptica La Croix de Sang was one of 2019’s revelatory black metal releases and a firm fixture in my Top 10 of the Year list. Venoms is absolutely nothing like La Croix de Sang and I will not pretend that it comes close to matching its glorious majesty, but this is a worthwhile compilation that shows the roots of the apocalypse that was to come in 2019. This is noisy, raw, and intense black metal, with ambient interludes and sections that could warrant their own full-length exploration. Hail Drastus! Favorite track: Raging Spectre.

Tout est une question de perspective. En regardant la pochette d'Algleymi, on se dira : "c'est un constat d'échec de l'humanité face aux puissances cosmiques". Mais le gigantisme de cette silhouette est un signe que Misþyrming veut plutôt s'emparer de cette puissance et le black metal le confirmera très vite. Il est plus maîtrisé, massif et épique. Si le chant est déjà impressionnant, dégageant plus de haine, les guitares sont de leur côté absolument monumentales. Un chef-d'œuvre du genre ! Jordan Vauvert
